Dorman Associates Inc., established in 2001, is an Architectural firm that specializes in both Residential and Commercial design, with a focus on Children’s Centers. The founding concept of the firm is to create economical, functional and innovative projects based on the Client’s needs. As a full service design firm we produce solutions that integrate inventive design ideas with cost effective options.

Our unique approach to the design of Children’s Centers combines our expertise in best practices in early childhood with our client’s specific needs and preferences.  We work together with our client to create innovative, flexible and practical schools that are designed for teaching and learning. We are committed to designing schools that enhance and promote a sense of community within the school, and connecting the school to its larger surrounding context.

Using three-dimensional computer simulations with Archicad CAD software, we provide imagery as early as Schematic Design. By integrating construction experience and structural knowledge, the designs are tailored to meet construction industry standards in order to maintain budget conscious projects.

Our firm prides itself on working with the Client and Contractor as a team to avoid intractable issues. To date, Dorman Associates Inc. has never been involved in litigation or claims of any kind.

Commercial / Residential Architecture

We collaborate with Clients to create the kind of Architecture that they would design if they were Architects.

A Firm Belief : Collaboration, Creativity, and Cost effectiveness

Our firm’s founding concept has two key dimensions. The first is that successful residential architecture derives from a genuine collaboration between the client and the design team. We talk with our clients, not at them, and we listen carefully.  Second, we believe in no way that it’s a given that livable, interesting, even delightful architecture has to be unreasonably costly.

Residential Design That Succeeds

We are a full-services architectural firm that specializes in residential as well as commercial architecture with a hard won record of success in the design of single-family custom homes, entry-level home developments, and custom home communities in diverse environments ranging from the Bay Area, Santa Barbara, and Sacramento region to Baja California and the Turks and Caicos.  We aim to be clear and direct in our communication with clients, and they tell us one of the things they appreciate most is the interaction they have with our design team and the knowledge all concerned are full partners in the creative process.

We use every means we can at every step of the design process to help clients “see” how an idea will play out if actually built.  For instance, we use three-dimensional computer renderings as early as the Schematic Design phase.  Just as important, our clients speak highly of our ability to come up with designs that are aesthetically pleasing, invariably innovative, and consistently budget conscious.  Finally, we are committed to the notion that the present and most certainly the future require no less than sustainable building practices and the use of Green materials whenever they make good design, economic and environmental sense. We work hard to be informed about all of the latest sustainable technologies and Green practices so that they may be incorporated seamlessly into all of our projects.
