Project Overview

The Flora Lofts are a small group of rental residences within the Flora Farms community in Las Animas, Baja California Sur. The two-story building stands at the edge of the farm’s planting beds, its metal roofs stepping along a row of deep, covered terraces that look across the fields to the hills beyond; a floral mural covers the end wall above a base of red brick.

Three unit types, a studio, a one-and-a-half-bedroom and a two-and-a-half-bedroom loft, share one palette: white-painted brick walls, polished concrete floors with exposed aggregate, steel-framed glass doors and partitions, green tile, wood shelving and cast concrete vanities. In the one-and-a-half-bedroom unit the living room rises into a glazed gable roof; the two-and-a-half-bedroom unit adds an open steel stair to an upper level. Sliding glass walls open every unit to its terrace and the farm.
